5 Tips for Driving in Wet Weather

Driving in wet or icy weather calls for extra caution but what exactly does that mean to you and me?

It boils down to a few simple rules to follow each and every time you get behind the wheel.

Before setting off, check your lights, wipers, and brakes are working correctly and that your tire pressures are set. Then follow these rules:

  1. Leave a few minutes early to allow extra time to safely get to your destination.
  2. Turn on your lights if they don’t switch on automatically.
  3. Drive slower and leave more space between your car and the vehicle in front.
  4. Don’t use cruise control.
  5. Don’t slam on the brakes, but if you skid, steer into the direction your car is headed.

These tips may seem obvious but we regularly see and help with claims in which they’re ignored.

By the way, you probably realize that even safe drivers like you are still at risk of an accident because of someone else’s negligence. Please make sure you have good auto insurance. Request a hassle-free quote here: get an auto quote
