When Natural Disasters Strike

Hardly a week seems to pass without news of some kind of natural disaster.

In the aftermath of an incident, the immediate concern is being in touch with family to either let them know your situation or to find out theirs.

What’s the best way to do that? Here are three important things you should do:

  • Keep an up to date list of key phone numbers — family, friends, law enforcement, utilities and so on. And make sure others have your number.
  • Agree on a chain communication plan with family, whereby you only have to contact one person and word gets passed down the line.
  • Always keep your phone charged — plus a back-up battery charger.

There are lots more things you can do. Here’s a downloadable list of actions, plus contacts template from FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management people.

We hope you or your family are never caught up in this type of incident but the best time to put a communication plan in place is before anything happens.

Now is a good time to check that you are properly insured against these perils. Contact us: info@primegroupins.com or 844-631-4901
