Can you imagine being in school and the teacher asks the class to take out their notebooks and pencils but you don’t have any? For many students, these basic school supplies are not affordable.

The Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Teaching Tools Store provides free school supplies year-round to economically disadvantaged students attending Hillsborough County Public Schools designated as Title I (federal designation that signifies 60% or more of the students in the school qualify for the free and reduced lunch program).

In Hillsborough County, 62% of the 266 public and charter schools (164) are deemed Title I. The Store currently serves 140 Title I schools.

This year, the Teaching Tools Store gave away over $2 million in free school supplies helping teachers better prepare their students for the classroom tasks!

The PGI team in Tampa decided to take Wednesday, May 17th and serve their community by volunteering at the Teaching Tools Store. They spent the day sorting school supplies; binder clips and permanent markers into bags for the teachers. They had a great bonding experience while volunteering with each other and know their efforts support a great cause.

PGI wants to thank ALL of the amazing teachers out there that work hard everyday!!

There are numerous ways to get involved with Hillsborough Education Foundation. You can even donate your un-used school supplies! Check out more ways, here#notyouraverageinsuranceagency
