Ed Ellsasser, PGI President, had the opportunity to join the Civic Leader Flight hosted by Colonel Frank Amodeo, the 927th Air Refueling Wing Commander at MacDill AFB on March 23rd and 24th. Several business leaders from the Tampa Bay Area came together for this once in a lifetime trip to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and Tyndall Air Force Base in the panhandle of Florida. It was an educational trip to learn more about the United States Air Force and the military. Scott AFB is the home of the Air Mobility Command and the US Transportation Command. The group learned how the commands coordinate land and air movement of the armed forces and also toured the base and participated in briefings.

Ed experienced an amazing air-to-air refueling training mission from the boom pod where 10 fighter planes were refueled.  The skill of these pilots and boom operators were incredible as they refueled a mere 30 feet away.  Ed goes on to say, “I have always had a great respect for the military but now after finding out how much goes on behind the scenes to protect this great country my respect has grown and I feel very proud to be an American. The men and women of the military are highly trained and very organized.  We are in great hands!”
