Andrew Aubery is a big believer in kids and their potential to change the world. Kids don’t get to choose the situation they are in and Andrew strives to make an impact even if it’s one person. Andrew Aubery is an Insurance Consultant for PrimeGroup Insurance(PGI). He’s been with PGI since 2008. The go-getter attitude that Andrew has did not stop at Insurance. He decided to get more involved in the community in an effort to make a significant impact. He enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters in 2010 and got matched with Charlie who just turned 11.
“It is well worth the time to impact a child’s life now, and in the future. There really is no price tag on that!”
-Andrew Aubery
Andrew’s motivations for joining Big Brothers Big Sisters were two-fold: 1. He wanted to make a direct impact and 2. He knew that he wants to be a father and this would give him a few tools to use someday. Andrew quickly realized that the relationship with Charlie was not just teacher/student but rather a two-way relationship where Andrew was learning from Charlie. Andrew is quick to say that he gets more out of his relationship with Charlie than Charlie does.
Andrew encourages young people to consider volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters because of the direct impact on a child’s life. Andrew goes on to say that the organization does a great job-matching people and that the experience will be challenging and allow you to grow. Some of the greatest accomplishments Andrew has seen in Charlie are his schoolwork and goal setting. Charlie now sets goals, both short-term and long-term then works very hard to accomplish those.
