How Flexibility Can Change the Trajectory of Your Business…Even in 2020!

The word of the year at PrimeGroup Insurance (PGI) is flexibility.

As we enter Q4 in 2020, it feels like the year flew by at times and also felt stagnant. It’s a time when things are ‘getting back to normal’ or at least a ‘new normal’ and we can reflect on the last 6 months. For our team at PGI, it’s been about flexibility. Not just in our schedules but in our mindset.

Flexible work has always been top priority for employees, but while managers have typically been reluctant to embrace flexible work arrangements, not only was the topic front and center this year, it was a necessity in order for businesses to stay afloat.

“Flexibility has been the key to this year.” – Ed Ellsasser, PGI President

As a local, small business serving the state of Florida, we have had to pivot and adjust quickly to the new normal. We have three physical locations and our agents are out in the field daily at networking events, community and volunteer engagements and meeting with clients. Four ways we’ve remained flexible are:

  1. Making virtual work part of the norm.
  2. Being able to adjust our calendars quickly when something unexpected comes up.
  3. Delay or defer premium payments if necessary, with our clients.
  4. Adjust to in-person meetings now being over Zoom or Teams.

Whether allowing for flexible work hours for employees with children at home during COVID, or offering flexible work arrangements on an on-going basis, supporting working parents is an employee engagement and satisfaction necessity that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

If you’re business can scan the ‘field’, pivot and adjust as necessary, business as usual (sort of) can remain. What are ways your business has been able to adjust this year?
